Q: Do you Accept Medicare, Medicaid Payments or Private Insurance?
A: Echo Transportation is primarily a private-pay concierge service. Medicare and standard health insurance typically do not cover non-emergency transportation for social or personal trips. However, we provide a detailed receipt (invoice) that you can submit to your Long-Term Care Insurance, HSA, or FSA provider for potential reimbursement.
Q: Why shouldn't I just use a wheelchair accessible Uber or Taxi?
A: The difference is safety and support. Rideshare drivers are "curb-to-curb". They are often not allowed to leave the driver's seat or touch the passenger. Echo drivers offer "Door-through-Door" service. We come inside, help you with your coat, assist you into the vehicle, and ensure you are settled safely inside your destination. Our drivers are also CPR-certified and trained in sensitive patient care.
Q: My home has stairs. Can you still help me?
A: Yes. This is one of our specialties. Unlike standard transport companies, we utilize advanced electronic stair-climbing chairs. These devices allow us to safely transport a client up or down flights of stairs without heavy lifting or discomfort. Please mention the number of steps when booking so we can dispatch the correct equipment.
Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: To guarantee your preferred pickup time, we recommend booking 24 to 48 hours in advance. However, we understand that life happens. We do accept same-day and "on-demand" requests whenever our schedule permits.
Q: Can a family member ride along?
A: Absolutely. We strongly encourage a specialized caregiver or family member to travel with the client for comfort. There is no extra charge for additional passengers riding in the same vehicle.
Q: Do you provide transportation for weddings and social events?
A: Yes. We believe mobility challenges shouldn't stop you from celebrating. We provide clean, discreet, and punctual transportation for weddings, funerals, graduations, and holiday gatherings. We can also arrange "Wait and Return" service so the driver stays on-site for the duration of the event.
Q: Will the driver wait for me during my appointment?
A: We offer two options:
Drop-off & Return: The driver leaves and returns to pick you up when you are finished.
Wait & Return: For an additional hourly fee, the driver can wait on-site to ensure immediate departure as soon as you are ready.
Q: What areas do you serve?
A: We proudly serve NJ, and serve the entire Tri-State area. We frequently transport clients to New York City, Newark Airport (EWR), JFK, and destinations in Connecticut and Pennsylvania for long-distance relocation.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We reserve a vehicle and driver specifically for you. We request at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Trips cancelled with less than 4 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee to cover the driver's dispatched time.
Q: Do I have to pay a deposit, and is it refundable?
A: Yes. Because we provide private, reserved transport, we do not double-book our vehicles. A deposit is required to lock in your specific time slot.
Q: What's your Refund Policy?
Refund Policy: Your deposit is 100% refundable if you cancel more than 24 hours before your trip. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are non-refundable to compensate the driver for the reserved time.
